Check your vehicle needs an MOT
The Government website will tell you when your MOT is due by simply entering your vehicle registration number.
Enter your reg. number to see if you need an MOT.
You must get an MOT for your vehicle by either
1. The 3rd anniversary of its registration. Some vehicles e.g taxis, need this at the 1st anniversary.
2. The anniversary of its last MOT, if it’s over 3 years old.
3. Vehicles over 40 years old may not need an MOT. Call us for advice.
Can I drive my car without an MOT?
No, you are not legally allowed to drive your vehicle without a valid MOT certificate. The only exceptions to this rule are:
- If you’re driving to a pre-arranged MOT appointment.
- If you’re driving to have repairs conducted on your vehicle from a failed MOT test.
If you are caught driving without an MOT, you could receive a fine of up to £1,000 and your vehicle may be impounded. This may also invalidate your insurance.
When can I book an MOT and can I wait whilst you do the test?
You can book your vehicle in for its MOT from “1 month – 1 day” before its due date, e.g due 10 April you can book your test from the 11 March

We offer a waiting room with WiFi if you wish to wait whilst the MOT takes place.
What if my vehicle fails?
We will call you to explain the reasons for failure and make a quote to fix your vehicle. If you choose to have the vehicle repaired and then re-tested within 14 days the MOT retest is free of charge.
